Q-How large a file can I send you?
Q-Do I really have to fill out all the paperwork you sent me?
Q-The site is saying temporarily unavailable. What does that mean?
Q-I’m not sure how to upload, can I just send you CDs?
Q-On your website you said “We’ll follow-up with instructions of how and where to upload your music, then we’ll review each track and let you know what’s next”, but we never got the instructions on how and where to upload our music.
Q-On the spreadsheet, what information do I enter into the “Source” column? I am not associated with any publishing companies, do I need to be? Or do I just put “none” in that column?
Q-Can the documents that require a signature or initials be scanned and uploaded, or do I need to mail them?
Q-Can I submit partially finished songs?
Q-Should I submit both vocal and instrumental versions of my songs?
Q-Should I mail everything?
Q-How large a file can I send you?
A-If you are sending your music tracks as a zip file, please limit the file size to 1GB. If the file is larger than1GB, please split the files into 2 or more 1GB files.
Q-Do I really have to fill out all the paperwork you sent me?
A-Yes please. We need to represent you and without all the details, we may not be able to place your music. We work with very sophisticated users of music, including ABC, General Motors, Ford, Frito-Lay, Epson, NBC, HBO and others. They need clear, accurate information, or they will just go elsewhere for the music they need. We know it’s a pain to do, but it’s well worth it.
PLEASE NOTE: The metadata form does not take the place of the Schedule A Form. We need both documents. To save time, if bands, labels, or musicians do not want to fill out both forms, once the metadata form is filled out, they can copy, print out and initial the section of the metadata that includes the song information, artist name, publisher, and album.

A-
Q-I’m not sure how to upload, can I just send you CDs?
A- Yes, but it will delay the review of your music, and clutter-up the earth. We need digital files, so after you send CDs, we have to rip them into our system and toss the CDs – not good. Uploading is very simple. Please see the instructions at: _________________

We also prefer that you upload AIFs but if you only have WAVs that’s OK, we’ll live with it. Please don’t upload mp3s as we won’t be able to use them and also please do not make your AIFs or WAVs from mp3s. Sorry … our clients want the best.
ONLY UPLOAD AIFs or WAVs created from masters.

A-
Q-Can the documents that require a signature or initials be scanned and uploaded, or do I need to mail them?
A-If you have a copy of Adobe Acrobat, you can do an electronic signature and email back to us. Or, you may print the document, scan it and email it to us. We love digital … saving the planet you know. Or you can fax it to us at: 415/276.2096. OR as a last resort US Postal service can drop it off for you.
Q-Can I submit partially finished songs?
A-Unfortunately we can’t. Our clients are very discerning and want only the best, complete, professionally recorded and pre-cleared compositions.
Q-Should I submit both vocal and instrumental versions of my songs?
A-Yes. While there are generally more calls for instrumentals, things change and we’re seeing more calls for vocals lately too.
Q-Should I mail everything?
A-We’re nearly 100% green, so try to help us by using digital uploads for the music and the paperwork. You can email the paperwork or upload it at the same FTP site, but if that’s not workable, you can mail to the address on the paperwork. Please follow the checklist in the Musician’s Pack that we sent and below.
If you have questions, please email us at: info@musync.com
Once you read the attached agreement paperwork and still have interest in signing with us, please follow the checklist below and then submit your music to the address in the paperwork. We are almost a 100% green company and prefer documents sent to us electronically via info@musync.com. You can also upload your music AND documents onto your personal FTP login we provided.
Music
* Hard copies of CD-quality tracks OR digital AIFs at highest quality (24bit/48 if available) uploaded onto our FTP
* Please send us two (2) copies of your music you’d like to submit
* Instrumental versions AND vocal cuts
* If you submit CDs, please do not send them in Jewel cases; paper sleeves are less waste for our environment & less money for you to ship
* If you’re burning CDs, do not put white, sticky labels as they damage the CD and damage our computer hardware
* We do not take tracks under 1:30; so make sure your tracks are minimum, 1:30
Forms/Documents
* Email metadata excel file to info@musync.com (OR upload onto our FTP)
* All metadata excel forms and legal documents must be completed in full
* Double-check “Label/Artist Name” at top of agreement is filled out – very important!!
* Initial on each page
* Page 3- all signature, dates, contact information should be completed
* Schedule A- make sure every track is filled out and initialed
* If there are additional copyright owners to your material, please have their signatures as well
ALWAYS REMEMBER DO NOT LIST ANY MUSIC AT MUSYNC THAT YOU DO NOT CONTROL 100%. THAT MEANS NO TRACKS WITH SAMPLES, COVERS, OR TRACKS THAT ARE CONTROLLED BY THIRD PARTIES.
When you are ready to move forward just let us know and we can set you up with your own FTP space on our server where you can upload your music files. Please only upload music that you control 100%. No third party publishers or rights owners, no samples and absolutely no covers. Also only AIFs are preferred. Lastly we like to have the excel file filled out. Since we have started working with and getting our music SoundMiner ready we are requiring all musicians, bands or labels submitting music to us fill out the SoundMiner excel file. It will help us and help you get your music licensed more. We will not accept any of your music unless we have all items. I have the excel files attached. This would be great if we can get it because more and more licensing companies are doing this and you do one and you’ll have it finished for the next licensing company or agency that uses Soundminer. So basically there are three excel documents. 2 are basically examples
of the work and how it’s done the one you need to fill out is the one that has REQUIRED on the file name.
