Problem

ABC’s Ugly Betty music supervisor came to Musync wanting to replace several Thievery Corporation tracks to be used in several party scenes on upcoming episodes of Ugly Betty. Thievery Corporation is known for their sexy downtempo and chillout lounge music with a slight touch of world beats thrown in. The music was to be played as background party lounge music in scenes on episodes in season four.

Solution

Once we knew they liked Thievery Corporation, we thought, “Hey, we have many great tracks here at Musync that would work as perfect replacements.” We have bands from across the globe that produce that same sexy, slinky chill and downtempo tracks—music you’d hear at a cocktail party or at some trendy hotel lounge/bar. We sent the music supe several cuts. We knew he needed options for several scenes on the show. They came back loving most of the tracks we sent, and they’ve ended using five…so far. And he’s on track to come back for several more for upcoming episodes.
