Our Take

The One’s first single “BeautifulWonderful” is full of unconventional vocals, orgasmic lyrics, and an addictive hook. Melodic guitar riffs are fused with beautiful off key chords as well as flirtatious wordplay.

“Superpsychosexy,” The One’s newest album, has weeded-out and spaced-out grooves which makes you want to chill or cruise in your car five miles an hour with the funkin’ beats blasting out of your speakers. The album contains sexy laid back beats and tripped out suggestive lyrics perfectly combining soul and hip-hop.

The One is influenced by P-Funk and his singing style reflects that influence. The sound is perfect for sexy scenes and romantic moments in films.

The One

What will happen if you had a musical gumbo with Dillaesque Hip Hop, Funkadelic grooves and the soul of Motown in its glory days? You will end up with the newest addition to OM’s Hip Hop roster called simply The One.

Geoffrey Edwards is The One or Thelonious Onederful Esquire. His early roots sprang from gospel, funk, and rock. As The One grew as a artist, he expanded his skills experimenting with other genres of music such as pop, jazz, psychedelia, trip hop, and a slanted version of country.

In 2003, The One released “PistolWhipped”, a solo single. He followed up with another single in 2005: “BeautifulWonderful”. His latest album is “SuperPsychoSexy”, and it is some of the most satisfying evidence proving that Hip Hop isn’t dead. “SuperPsychoSexy” embodies the love of all musical genres in such a funky sexy manner that an orgy or two may pop off at any moment when a song like “Milk Shake Thick” blasts from the speakers.

“Sounds like a modern day version of The Mack soundtrack.”—BPM Magazine
