Analogik is a jazzy quartet hailing from Denmark. Their sound can, at times, be classified as modern sailor music or a multicultural collection of folk jams. Due to the different backgrounds of the foursome, their music isn’t easily categorized; their sound is very unique—a modern update of folk and gypsy.
Films that need folk or gypsy music and looking for a fresh new sound would be very happy with Analogik.

After some hard working years on the road—well, the sea—and in the studio hide-away, Analogik presents their debut album, “Søens Folk.” This album is a record of their musical adventures, a genre-breaking posture of world music and “dubby” deepness, freshly mixed with a boatman’s call. The album’s title is a grandiose salute to all proud “Men of the Sea.” This is truly a redefinition of “pirate material.”
Denmark’s Analogik has settled as a quartet and invited additional guests for this first full album (its previous two recordings were produced exclusively on 10-inch vinyl by “Auditory Designs” and were a well-kept secret amongst DJs and nu jazz connoisseurs). Asger Strandby is on turntables with scratch’n’efx and armed with a laptop, he also triggers diminutive electronic beats. Jesper Kobberø’s charming guitar melodies is backed up by his flute and air organ. Theis Bror blows a precise and relaxed saxophone. Magnus Damgaard’s bass is powerful and thick as hell (just like his aged beard).
Jazz is what brought Analogik together as a band in 2004, but their music reflects on so much more: Dub, electronica, funk, bossa nova, and tango are the carefully welted sounds from the Global Village. This is true to the very innovative spirit of “Auditory Designs.”
