American Dollar’s music is all instrumental so it’s the perfect complement for dark, dramatic, emotional scenes. It’s basic experimental rock music without any vocals to get in the way. It’s also perfect for “cut to” productions. Their tracks can be very minimally mellow and moody or uptempo with full-on piano and orchestra. We love some of the pieces like The War On Christmas which starts out really slow and then builds to an intense musical climax.
These tracks are perfect for dark, dramatic films about depression, drug use, death, or horror. They’re best used when the story eventually ends on a happy note.
The American Dollar are an experimental instrumental band with post-rock credentials from Queens, New York.
The name and music are part of a series of contemplative reflections based on the world we live in, and exactly how we live in it. These expressions take the form of positive, negative, and neutral emotions depending on your viewpoint and the meaning conveyed in the music, whether it is love, sadness, thought, appreciation, rejection, etc..Meaning is personally and individually creative, a large factor which makes us human.
The best parallel that can be drawn about the name is the Pink Floyd track “Money”. Roger Waters once stated that some people come away from the song wanting their own jet plane, but in this case they’d completely missed the point of the song. Much the same are those who misunderstand the usage of the name as if it’s an absolute endorsement of the idea of the American Dollar or American power or any other ideas which may be permanently affixed to such a name. This reaction is interesting, and while neither endorsing or rejecting it, we can still consider its significance.
The name fits the band well; it is provocative, and the phrase has many meanings in different contexts, yet it is internationally relative and understood. And because of this, it sets the tone for experiencing the diverse feelings mentioned above that are created by the music of The American Dollar.
